Why would you want to join the Manx Organic Network?

To make your voice heard. We are in regular discussions with senior members of Government departments, the Government-owned abattoir, the Creamery, retailers – all those who can influence change of what is available to you here. If you want more certified Manx organic produce, then if you join for no other reason, this is reason enough. We already speak for many hundreds and expect to speak for thousands in the coming years.

There are other major reasons for joining too!

Regular updates on information relevant to all interested in fresh local produce grown without pesticides or artificial fertilisers – whether certified organic or grow your own. The updates come in the form of newsletters, e-mails in local network groups and now through this website.

Contacts with people with whom you share a common interest, either in organics generally or in a specific area – keeping hens, growing vegetables etc etc. This can also be of economic benefit since we have the opportunity to identify the best suppliers, buy in bulk and share the savings.

If you want to be more involved in local network groups around the IOM, or at the Shows, or on the Committee or in the sub-committees then you are very welcome to join in the organisational side. However, there is no pressure to do that. Your vote alone is enough.

How to join MON

First, decide whether Family or Individual membership is for you.

If there is more than one person in your household, then may we suggest Family membership is the appropriate choice? We need to speak for all those to whom organic and especially local organic is important. If there are two of you and the second person is adult too, then MON needs to have both of you.

If there are children in the household, then Family membership is for you too. Please still give all the adults a mention, but also give the dates of birth of the children too. Yes, we want to speak for them too because they are the next generation who will we hope enjoy the benefits of what we are working towards. However they are also important in their own right and we are already thinking of ways in which we can involve them more directly.
